5-27. SLOPE
Ground slope can be considered an obstacle. If the slope exceeds 7 degrees,
observation and small utility helicopters (UH-1 Iroquois) will not be allowed to land and
cargo aircraft will be issued an advisory. If the slope exceeds 15 degrees, no aircraft
will be permitted to land. Always attempt to land the aircraft up-slope or side-slope
(figures 5-23 and 5-24). Avoid landing an aircraft down-slope unless a last resort for a
true emergency.
