3-33. ALVEOLECTOMY
a. General. Alveolectomy is the contouring of alveolar bone. It may be done to
smooth the bone after removal of teeth or other surgery, to contour irregular ridges, to
remove bone undercuts, or to increase the space between the maxillary and mandibular
ridges before the fabrication of dentures.
