Use caution.
Extremely intense physical exertion may bring on heat exhaustion or heatstroke.
82F (28C)
Use discretion in planning heavy exercise for unseasoned
personnel.
Suspend strenuous exercise such as marchi ng at
85F (29C)
standard cadence for unseasoned personne l during
their first three weeks of tr aining. Training activities
may be continued on a reduced scale after the
second week of training.
Avoid outside classes in the sun when the WBGT is
above 85F (29C)
over this WBGT Index.
88F (31C)
Stop strenuous exercise for all recruits and other
trainees with less than 12 weeks training in hot
weather. Hardened personnel, after having been
acclimatized each season, can carry on limited
activity at WBGT Index of 88F to 90F (31C - 32C)
f or periods not exceeding six hours a day.
Suspend physical tr aining and strenuous exercise and
90F (32C)
above for all personnel (excludi ng essential operat iona l
commitments not for training pur poses, where the risk
of heat casualties may be warranted).
NOTE:
Wearing of body armoror NBC warfare protective uniforms in effect adds
10F (6C) to the measured WBGT. Activity limits should be adjusted
accordingly.
