1-29. DEFINITION
a. The word "decimal" means ten. A decimal is a fraction whose denominator is
ten or a multiple of ten.
b. All the numbers written to the left of the "decimal point" (a dot) are whole
numbers. The numbers written to the right of the decimal point are "decimals" (less
than one).
c. The first place to the right of the decimal point is for tenths, the second place
for hundredths, the third for thousandths, and so forth.
