1-46. DEFINITION--RATIO
A ratio is a way of expressing a fractional part of a whole number. In a ratio, the
numerator of the fraction is written in front of the denominator instead of over it.
EXAMPLE: In a ratio, the fraction 1 would be written 1:2 or 1-2.

The symbol ":" or "-" is placed between the numbers of the ratio.
1-47. CHANGING A RATIO TO A PERCENTAGE OR DECIMAL
A ratio is changed to a percentage or decimal in the same way a fraction is
changed to a percentage or decimal.
EXAMPLE: Change 1:50 to a percentage.
1:50 → 1 x 100 → 2%
