3-20. THE LATERAL DECUBITUS OR LATERAL RECUMBENT POSITION
The patient may be placed on his right side, in which case the position is referred
to as the right lateral recumbent or right lateral decubitus position. The left lateral
decubitus position shown in figure 3-34, produces an AP radiographic projection of the
body part. If the patient is placed in the right lateral decubitus (recumbent) position,
then the patient will be lying on his right side (see figure 3-35).
