3-17. TWO-BLANKET DRESSING
The two-blanket dressing provides a padding of four blanket layers under the
casualty and two layers over the casualty.
a. Place the first blanket centered lengthwise across the litter with the top edge
of the blanket just beyond the head end of the bed of the litter (figure 3-14 A).
b. Fold the second blanket into thirds lengthwise. Place it on top of the first
blanket with the upper edge of the second blanket about 10 inches below the upper
edge of the first blanket (figure 3-14 B). If the casualty is tall, place the second blanket
lower on the litter.
c. Open the folds at the bottom of the second blanket for about two feet (figure
3-14 B).
d. Place the casualty onto the litter.
e. Bring the bottom of the second blanket up over the casualty's feet and make
a small fold between his feet to keep them separated; then tuck the two folds over and
around his feet and ankles (figure 3-14 C).
f. Bring one side of the first blanket over the casualty; then bring the other side
of the first blanket over the casualty and tuck in excess (figure 3-14 D).
