b. Aidmen perform the following:
(1)
Provide aidman care.
(2)
Return to duty those patients requiring no further treatment.
(3) Direct ambulatory (walking) patients requiring further treatment to the
company aid post or battalion aid station.
(4)
Arrange for evacuation of patients and establish priorities.
(5). Initiate DD Form 1380, field medical card (Figure 4-2), for sick, injured
and wounded patients whenever conditions permit.

(6) Assist the supported company commander or platoon leader in insuring
that unit personnel are trained in manual patient carries, use of special and improvised
litters, use of the forest penetrator for hoist operations and basic first aid.
c. The medical aidman retained at company headquarters will:
(1) Screen, evaluate, and provide medical care for patients requiring
treatment within his medical capability. He returns to duty those patients requiring no
further attention. Patients requiring additional treatment are evacuated to the aid
station.
