state requirements. Coordinates with other divisions in the Agency to ensure that the
best possible techniques are used and the most accurate results possible are obtained.

Directorate of Regional Activities.
Provides direct support in environmental engineering, sanitation, industrial
hygiene, radiation services, entomology, and preventive medicine. Each regional
division provides, within its respective area of responsibility, the following services:
a. Conducts, on a rotational basis, annual visits to a portion of its supported
installations so that over a given time frame, a survey or program review will be
conducted at each installation, as follows:
(1)
Microwave oven program management surveys at all installations
annually.
Industrial hygiene inventories1 and pest management program reviews
(2)
at one-half of the installations, so that each is checked every two years.
(3)
Air pollution engineering, water quality engineering, solid waste,
industrial hygiene, and radiation protection surveys at one-third of the installations, so
that each installation is surveyed every three years.
(4)
A pest management program review at one-fourth of the installations,
so that each installation will be reviewed every four years.
(5)
Environmental sanitation surveys at one-fifth of the installations, so
that each installation will be surveyed every five years.
b. Conducts a preventive medicine program assessment by the regional
preventive medicine consultant:
(1)
Annually at each installation not having a trained preventive medicine
officer during the fiscal year.
(2)
Every two years (one-half each year) at each installation having a
trained preventive medicine officer during the fiscal year.
c. Provides consultation on air pollution engineering, solid waste management,
water quality, radiological health, entomological sciences, and environmental sanitation;
or refers requests for such consultation to USAEHA headquarters when they are
beyond regional division capabilities.
