QUESTION : Which RJA would have been assigned the responsibility for
processing this claim for possible tort liability on some third
person?
a. An RJA in Texas.
b. An RJA in Tennessee.
RESPONSES:
a. An RJA in Texas.
This is not the correct response. In this case, the RJA serving the MTF in
Tennessee would be the one responsible for processing the claim. Remember, the
enlisted man was hospitalized in Tennessee. Generally, geographic areas assigned to the
RJA coincide with the geographic areas assigned to the MTF commander of an Army
area. The RJA normally will be the judge advocate office which furnished legal services to
the Army MTF where the initial treatment or hospitalization was provided.
