b. Platelet Plug. The blood platelets circulate freely in the blood until they
reach a blood vessel that has been severed. Platelets then adhere to the ruptured point
of the blood vessel. After a period of time, the platelets partially plug the severed
vessel.
c. Clotting Mechanism. The third mechanism involves the formation of the
blood clot. The clot forms within three to six minutes after the rupturing of the blood
