The 91R MOS, the Veterinary Food Inspection Specialist, is not a large MOS in
numbers authorized. It is administered by the AMEDD and has an authorized strength of
about 1,300 enlisted personnel. About 85 percent of the authorized strength in the MOS
is the active component and about 15 percent is the Reserve Components (RC). The
Reserve Components includes both the US Army Reserve and the National Guard. Of
the active component, about 83 percent are authorized on a TDA and about 17 percent
on a TOE. The MOS has a number of positions overseas, principally in Germany and
Korea. Most of the overseas positions are listed on a TOE.

RELATED CIVILIAN OCCUPATIONS
There are many civilian companies which supply food to consumers, either on a
wholesale level or a retail level. These companies normally give preference to job
applicants with experience in the area of food inspection and quality assurance. Also,
there are federal and state agencies which hire personnel with food inspection
experience. Some federal civil service classifications related to food inspection are: food
inspection specialist; quality assurance specialist (subsistence); food technologist;
inspector, agricultural commodities.
