CONTROL: Eradication of the vector (female Anopheles mosquito); elimination of
source (reservoir host and asymptomatic carriers).
PROPHYLAXIS: Prevent mosquito bites and drug prophylaxis.
DIRECT TRANSMISSION: Screen blood donor and pregnant female.
HABITAT IN MAN: Liver and blood.
INTERMEDIATE HOST: Man is the intermediate host; the mosquito is the definitive
host.
RESERVOIR HOST: Primate.
INFECTIVE FORM: To man is the sporozoite; to mosquitoes are both
macrogametocytes and microgametocytes.
MODE OF INFECTION: Injection.
