(2) Greater than 30% disability will result in medical retirement with full benefits.

5-31. RECONVENED BOARDS
Prior to final action by the Secretary of the Army, the proceedings of a properly
constituted physical evaluation board may be returned to the same board for further
investigation, further consideration of findings, correction of errors, or for other reasons.
5-32. IMPROPERLY CONSTITUTED BOARDS
Proceedings of an improperly constituted physical evaluation board are null and
void. Whenever it is discovered that a hearing has been conducted by an improperly
constituted physical evaluation board, the record of the proceedings (less the findings and
statement of conclusions) of the hearing are referred for a new hearing by a properly
constituted board.
5-33. MILITARY PATIENTS REQUIRING HOSPITALIZATION OR NURSING HOME
CARE AFTER SEPARATION
If a patient will require hospitalization or nursing home care after separation, the
medical treatment facility initiates actions of the following type:
a. Patient Eligible for Veterans' Administration Hospitalization. If a military
patient is expected to be separated for disability incurred in line of duty or is otherwise
eligible for care in a Veterans' Administration hospital, an electrically transmitted message
is forwarded to the Armed Services Medical Regulating Office, Scott AFB, IL 62225. The
message requests bed designation in a Veterans' Administration facility.
