b. The brigade headquarters consists of the commander, a chief nurse, a dental
surgeon, a chief of staff, a preventive medicine staff officer, a staff chaplain, a staff
judge advocate, a veterinary staff officer, an aide-de-camp, a command sergeant major,
and three additional enlisted personnel.
5-11. THE MEDICAL GROUP
a. Headquarters and headquarters detachment, medical group (TOE 8-122)
provides command, control and administrative supervision of attached medical units. It
is commanded by a colonel, MC. It consists of the following organizational elements: a
group headquarter; a detachment headquarters; and administrative section; an
operations and intelligence section; a supply section; and a race relations/equal
opportunity section (Figure 5-3). The group headquarters includes the commander, an
executive officer, a chief nurse, a preventive medicine officer, an S1, and 52/53, an S4,
and a command sergeant major. It is normally attached to a medical brigade, and one
group normally operates in support of the corps forward area and one in support of the
corps rear area. This unit is a command and control headquarters only, having no
organic troop units to perform assigned duties. It may command any medical unit of the
corps as directed by the medical brigade commander.
