e. Idioventricular Rhythm.
(1) Analysis. The rhythm is usually regular, but can be unreliable, since the
rhythm of the heart is at such a low site. There is no P wave nor P-R interval. The QRS
complex is wide and bizarre and 0.12 second or greater. The escape rhythm has taken
over the pacemaking responsibility.
(2)
Treatment. Treat as follows:
(a)
First administer atropine.
(b)
If atropine is unsuccessful, administer isoprel.
