the specific composition of a team may vary, its basic mission and capabilities remain
the same.

THE AM TEAM, HEADQUARTERS, PREVENTIVE MEDICINE SERVICE
The AM Team, HQ, Preventive Medicine Service (TOE 8-600), commands and
controls the other preventive medicine teams, LA, LB, LC, LD, and LE. It also provides
consultation in epidemiology, environmental sanitation, entomology, and the preventive
medicine aspects of veterinary medicine. It is commanded by a lieutenant colonel (MC),
and normally has a strength of 6 officers and 11 enlisted men. It is a mobile team.
3-8.
THE LA TEAM, ETOMOLOGY
The LA Team provides professional and technical personnel for the field study,
survey, and control of rodent and insect disease vectors and for related environmental
problems. It provides one survey section and three identical control sections. The
control sections are equipped with power sprayers, which enable them to conduct
control operations far beyond the capabilities of the field sanitation team. It is
commanded by a major (MS) and has a strength of 5 officers and 35 enlisted men. It is
a mobile team.

THE LB TEAM, ENVIRONMENTAL SANITATION
The LB Team investigates, identifies, and makes recommendations to improve
sanitation in food service facilities, troop housing, water supply, and waste disposal
areas. It evaluates personnel and industrial hygiene measures. It can be divided into
three sections. The team consists of a captain (AOC 68N) and 10 enlisted men. It is a
mobile team.
3-10. THE LC TEAM, ENVIRONMENTAL ENGINEERING SERVICE
The LC Team provides capabilities similar to those of the LB Team. In addition,
it provides consultation and services on the sanitary engineering aspects of water
treatment ,waste disposal. radiation health, industrial hygiene, and environmental
pollution control. The LC Team can provide environmental engineering support for as
many as four LB teams. It is capable of dividing into one base section and seven two-
man sections. It is commanded by a major (AOC 68P) and has a strength of 3 officers
and 20 enlisted men. It is a mobile team.
