4-43. AMBULANCE PLATOON
The ambulance platoon (Figure 4-14) performs ground evacuation from aid
stations in the battle support area and from treatment platoons of FSB medical
companies to the treatment platoon or the holding platoon of the medical support
company. This platoon also provides reinforcement/replacement of ambulances of FSB
medical companies. It is typically staffed with platoon leader, platoon sergeant,
aid/evacuation NCO, and ambulance/aide drivers.

NOTE: Personnel resources are subject to change and the latest TOE/MTOE should
be checked for current staffing.
a. Platoon Leader. The platoon leader commands and controls the platoon and
plans the utilization of ambulance assets.
b. Platoon Sergeant. The platoon sergeant assists the platoon leader in
planning the utilization of ambulance assets and provides direct supervision of enlisted
personnel.
c. Aid/Evacuation Noncommissioned Officer. This NCO performs
emergency medical treatment, transports battlefield casualties/patients, and initiates
proper evacuation procedures.
d. Ambulance/Aide/Drivers. These individuals perform emergency medical
treatment. Provides care/treatment during evacuation procedures and operates
vehicles to transport sick and wounded. They perform preventive maintenance on
ambulances and on associated equipment. They also perform field sanitation
procedures as required.

The treatment platoon (Figure 4-15) consists of a treatment platoon
headquarters, a treatment section, a dental section, an optometry section, and a mental
health section.
