Providing professional guidance, consultation, and diagnostic services.
(2) Providing dental laboratory services and prostheses for restoration and
replacement of lost tissue.
(3) Conducting specialized training and educational material for professional
and technical personnel.
(4) Providing informational and instructional material for professional and
technical personnel.
(5)
Conducting applied research and testing.
(6)
Testing and evaluating doctrine, techniques, equipment, and materials.
(7)
Preparing and maintaining prescribed records and reports.
(8) Administering and evaluating the AT performance of US Army Reserve
dental units training with the ADL.
(9)
Developing and executing the operating budget and program for the
ADL.
b. Organization. The Office of the Commander consists of the ADL
Commander, the Executive Officer, and the senior dental NCO. Each ADL has a dental
company or dental company detachment.
c. Locations. There are currently four ADLs. They are located at Fort Sam
Houston, Texas; Fort Gordon, Georgia; Washington, D. C.; and Alameda, California.
Areas of responsibility are assigned by HQ, HSC and do not coincide with HSRs
assigned to the MEDCEN.
2-16. ACADEMY OF HEALTH SCIENCES, UNITED STATES ARMY
a. Location, Mission, and Functions. The AHS, US Army is located at Fort
Sam Houston, Texas. The AHS has the overall mission of providing systematic,
progressive educational programs for AMEDD officer and enlisted personnel worldwide
in the field of health sciences. This includes providing undergraduate, graduate, and
postgraduate level education; administering the US Army Medical Equipment and
Optical School (USAMEOS) AT Aurora, Colorado; developing concepts, doctrine,
materiel requirements, and organizations for health services support of the Army in
combat; developing courses, literature, and other material to support soldier and unit
skills and proficiencies; testing and evaluating new and replacement items of equipment
having medical implications; and performing worldwide evaluation of the Academy's
training and education programs.
