Child Neurology Service, and an Adolescent Child Psychiatry Service if needed. (The
Neurology Service can be placed under the Department of Medicine by the MEDCEN
commander.)
h. Department of Primary Care and Community Medicine. The Department
of Primary Care and Community Medicine is responsible for providing comprehensive
primary medical care services to active duty personnel and other eligible beneficiaries;
providing appropriate occupational medical services, to include medical examinations,
for authorized civilian personnel; providing emergency medical services; providing
clinical and consultation services as required; performing professional training as
directed; evaluating the medical care given by the department; and preparing records
and reports. The department may organize the services given below:
(1) Clinics Service. The Clinics Service can organize two sections--a
Hospital Clinics Section, which is responsible for the Ambulatory Care Clinic, and a
Community Health Clinics Section, which is responsible for the Troop Medical Clinics
(TMC), the Army Health Center (AHC), and the Occupational Health Clinics (OHC).
The TMC, AHC, and OHC are discussed in paragraph 2-12.
(2) Emergency Medical Service. The Emergency Medical Service can
organize two sections--the Emergency Room Section and the Emergency Ambulance
Section.
(3) Aviation Medicine Service. This service provides clinical care and
medical examination services for aviation personnel and their dependents.
(4) Physical Examination Service. This service performs medical
examinations of all referred personnel.
i. Department of Nursing. The Department of Nursing is responsible for
providing nursing services as required in the examination, care, and treatment of
patients; providing clinical and consultation care given by the department; and preparing
records and reports. The services listed below are organized by the department.
(1) Clinical Nursing Service. This service provides nursing support in the
diagnostic, therapeutic, preventive, restorative, and rehabilitative aspects of health care
for inpatients. The Clinical Nursing Service can organize a Medical Nursing Section, a
Surgical Nursing Section, a Psychiatric (or Psychiatric and Neurology) Nursing Section,
a Maternal and Child Health Care Nursing Section, and an Inhalation Therapy Section.
(The Inhalation Therapy Section may be placed under the Department of Medicine or
the Department of Surgery if so directed by the MEDCEN commander.)
(2) Ambulatory Care Nursing Service. This service provides nursing service
in the prevention, education, examination, care, and treatment of outpatients. The
Ambulatory Care Nursing Service can organize a Specialty Clinics Nursing Section, and
Emergency Medical Service Nursing Section, and a Medical Clinics Nursing Section.
