n. Department of Family Practice. The Department of FamiIy Practice
provides inpatient and outpatient care in general medicine, general surgery, pediatrics,
and obstetrics and gynecology. It conducts professional training as required, evaluates
the medical care given by the department, and prepares medical records and reports.
The MEDCEN commander may establish subordinate sections as needed.
o. Social Work Service. The Social Work Service provides comprehensive
social work services to patients, their families and the military community; conducts
professional training; evaluates the programs provided by the service; and prepares
records and reports. The MEDCEN commander may establish subordinate sections as
needed.
p. Department of Clinical Investigation. The Department of Clinical
Investigation promotes and coordinates organized scientific inquiry, both in humans and
by directly related laboratory procedure, into clinical problems of significant concern in
the necessary health care of eligible beneficiaries. The department formulates
investigation procedures, prepares articles for publication, and provides special
laboratory and animal support.
q. Pharmacy Service. The Pharmacy Service provides comprehensive
pharmaceutical services in support of the MEDCEN health care delivery mission; stores,
dispenses, and controls experimental drugs; conducts professional and technical
training; supervises the pharmacy activities located in TMC, AHS, and OHS; and
evaluates the work methods of the service. The Pharmacy Service can establish the
Pharmacy Sterile Products Section, the Inpatient Pharmacy Section, the Radiological
Pharmacy Section, the Outpatient Pharmacy Section and the Pharmacy Support
Section as needed.
r. Department of Ministry and Pastoral Care. This department provides a
comprehensive program of chaplain activities for the religious, moral and pastoral needs
of patients.
s. Chief of Administrative Services. The Chief of Administrative Services
exercises overall supervision over the Office of the Adjutant General and administration
divisions. These divisions and activities are described in paragraphs t through cc. The
Chief of Administrative Services also serves as the CS of the MEDCEN. The MEDDAC
counterpart to the MEDCEN CS is the Deputy Commander for Administration (DCA).
t. Office of the Adjutant General. The Office of the Adjutant General provides
administrative services to the MEDCEN including authentication of orders, message
center service, and mail service, records administration, publications and reproduction
services, information services, and operation of the hospital information desk.
(Although the hospital information desk is the support division instead if so designated
by the MEDCEN primary responsibility of the Office of the Adjutant General, it may be
operated by the Patient Administration Division (PAD) or by the Clinical commander.)
