c. Administration of Contrast Medium.
(1) The contrast medium (contained in an ampule) should be warmed to
body temperature in a basin of water.
(2) An "IVP (intravenous pyelography) layout" should be made available in
accordance with an established routine. This layout may consist of such items as:
(a) Syringes, sterilized--a 20 cc, 30 cc, or 50 cc syringe for the injection
of the contrast solution and a 2 cc syringe for the administration of the sensitivity test or
adrenalin.
(b)
Needles of specific size and number, sterilized.
(c)
Ampule file.
(d)
Ampules of adrenalin.
(e)
Tourniquet.
(f)
Alcohol.
(g)
Gauze bandages, sterilized.
