Section IV. DIVISION LEVEL HEALTH SERVICE SUPPORT
4-28. MEDICAL COMPANY FSB MISSIONS AND FUNCTIONS
The health service support provided in infantry, mechanized, and armored
divisions is essentially the same. Variations occur in the airborne and air assault
divisions. These differences will be pointed out where significant. The medical
company provides health service support for organic and attached elements of the
brigade and to other units operating in the battle support area. It receives and sorts
patients and provides temporary medical and surgical care. The medical company also
evacuates casualties from the maneuver battalion aid station to its treatment section.
The medical company is organized with a company headquarters, an ambulance
platoon, and a treatment platoon. See Figure 4-10, "The medical company."
