infantry battalion. Division medical resources are initially utilized, if available, with
additional support obtained from corps medical resources.
(4) Engineer companies frequently are attached to or placed in DS of
brigades. In either case, companies employed in brigade areas use their aidmen for
initial treatment and are provided unit and division level medical support by the
supporting medical company of the FSB.
4-27. MEDICAL SECTION, DIVISION HEADQUARTERS AND HEADQUARTERS
COMPANY
a. Organization. The medical section of the division headquarters and
headquarters company (Figure 4-9) is organic to the headquarters company and is not
to be confused with the division surgeon's section, which is a staff section.
*Division surgeon and the members of his staff section are
assigned to the DIV headquarters.

b. Employment.
(1) The section operates the division headquarters aid station, usually in the
vicinity of the division main CP, and furnishes unit level medical support to division
headquarters and elements of the signal battalion, the MP company, and other units
without organic medical support which are located near the division headquarters. The
section also furnishes aidmen to the signal battalion and MP Company, when required.
(2) The division medical companies provide division service support, to
include evacuation of the aid station.
